The City Of Mount Airy Is A Seeking Motivated Self-starter To Join Our Finance Department As The Finance Director. This Position Plans, Directs, And Organizes A Variety Of Fiscal And Administrative Functions Including Disbursement And Accounting Of Revenues And Expenditures; Formulation And Administration Of The Budget, Accounting, Collections, Billing And Payroll Operations And Preparation Of The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Work Is Performed In Accordance With Established City Finance Procedures, Local Ordinances, North Carolina General Statutes And Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Pronouncements Governing The Responsibilities Of Local Government Fiscal Operations. The Employee Must Exercise Considerable Independent Judgment And Initiative In Planning And Directing The Fiscal Control System. Work Is Performed Under The Supervision Of The City Manager And Is Evaluated Through Conferences, Reports, And By An Independent Audit Of Financial Records. Interested Applicants Should Have A High Measure Of Financial Expertise, Experience With Municipality/governmental Finance Preferred, And Must Meet The Minimum Qualifications Outlined Below. Qualifications Include: Graduation From An Accredited College Or University With A Bachelor’s Degree In Accounting, Finance, Or Related Field And Considerable Experience In Public Finance Administration Including Supervisory Experience Or Combination Of Education And Experience. Preference Given To Candidates With A Certified Public Accountant Or Certified Local Government Finance Officer.
